Subject to sightless attractions
Still fit to grope, but too wise to control
Feelings, curbs outward reactions.
While cause and effect run wildly amuck
Hunches inform the old mind:
Too sere to tell lurking torment from luck
Seers are certainly blind.
Lust for more tickles the undying heart
Apathy stifles the soul;
Too know-it-all to rehearse a new part
Time plays its natural role.
